I hold a Master's in Social Work from the University of New England and a Bachelor of Arts in Women's Studies. I use approaches such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy to help teach how to manage painful emotions and Prolonged Exposure and Cognitive Processing Therapy to help heal from trauma and decrease anxiety and depression. I utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in order to accept what is out of our personal control, and commit to action that improves and enriches life.
I specialize in working with people across the LGBTQ spectrum and particularly enjoy working with parents who are learning to accept and embrace their LGBTQ "child". My experience has been in a variety of clinical social work settings including a diversion program for adolescent girls, mobile crisis, outpatient mental health clinic, in-home services and private practice. I have led DBT Skills Groups for adults and adolescents. In addition, I have worked within Child Protective Services, Juvenile Justice and for the Court Appointed Special Advocate Program training individuals to work as Guardians ad Litem within the Court system in Maine. |
