I have worked as a social worker for over 20 years. I feel most rewarded in assisting those struggling to identify how life holds each of us back, locating the courage to confront barriers to living our best life and managing life transitions.
I specialize in working with those who have experienced trauma (and in particular adults who have experienced childhood trauma), anxiety disorders, depression, substance use/abuse and self harm behaviors. I work with mid-life individuals who are learning to navigate stressors particular to the "third act" of life while sustaining a balanced and meaningful life.
In addition, I work with students toward managing stress and anxiety related to career or academic goals.
I enjoy working with parents who are learning to alter ineffective parenting styles and parents who are moving toward accepting and nurturing their gay, lesbian or transgender child.
I offer individual therapy. In addition, I work with families who are struggling with issues related to gender expression or sexual orientation..
